City Break Neubrandenburg

Neubrandenburg is a charming city with a rich history and beautiful architecture and it’s just 1.5 train ride from Szczecin. A day trip is an excellent way to experience a unique blend of old-world charm and nature.

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern-Ticket allows you a round trip to and from Szczecin to other cities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern area for a very good price.

A group of up to 5 people can ride together on this one ticket for a price starting from 22 euros to up to 39 euros (depending on the number of people in the group). Prices are a bit higher on weekends. We paid for 3 people on weekend 31 eur.

The city is renowned for its nicely preserved medieval fortifications, which have earned it the nickname “The City of Four Gates.” City walls encircle the historic center, and visitors can explore the gates and towers

On the city wall, you can admire as well a unique architectural feature known as the “Wiek Houses.” There are 25 of them at the moment, located around 30 meters from each other. Today, many of the Wiek Houses have been restored and converted into shops, restaurants, and cafes, providing a rather unique shopping and dining experience.

One of the must-see attractions is the Gothic-style St. Mary’s Church, which was built in the 14th century. Currently, it is more famous for its Philharmonic. You can check concert schedules here. Look for Konzertkirche Neubrandenburg  https://tog.de/spielplan-programm/

After a walk around the old city, you can relax in the city’s parks or take a walk along the beautiful Tollensee Lake. The lake is a popular spot for swimming and boating.

Nearby the lake on the way back to the city we noticed some farm animals. It looked more like an open zoo. Lots of people came around with their kids.

In conclusion, a day trip to Neubrandenburg offers a lots of attractions and experiences, from the historic fortifications and St. Mary’s Church to the beautiful Tollensee Lake and the unique Wiek Houses.
