Szczecin Pasztecik Bar simply put is a must eat and visit place in Szczecin👌🏼
🍽️Let’s talk about some basics: Szczecin pasztecik, or simply pasztecik, is a deep-fried yeast dough stuffed with a meat or vegetarian filling. It is a typical fast food snack of Szczecin, where it was popular during the time of the Polish People’s Republic and still retains its popularity, having become a cultural food of the region.
🔥The most popular fillings: minced meat, mushrooms with cheese and cabbage with mushrooms. The dough is crispy on the outside and soft inside.
⭐️Name comes from the filling: The minced beef filling resembles pâté. The Polish word „pasztecik” is a diminutive of the word „pasztet” – „pâté”.
🥤Usually ordered together with clear, spicy red borshch.
📍The first bar serving was founded in 1969. The first location was on the same street Wojska Polskiego as it is now, but a bit closer to Cinema Pioneer. When the Bar needed to move to a new place, all the furniture had travelled together with the bar. No changes were made afterwards. Therefore it is safe to say that when entering Bar Pasztecik, you are entering Szczecin of 1969.
🎉From 22 December 2010, „pasztecik szczeciński” is listed on the official Polish traditional products list and hence protected by European Union law, which means that all producers have to strictly follow the traditional recipe.
❤️There are several places to eat pasztecik in Szczecin. In most of the Szczecin malls you can find it somewhere closer to hypermarkets, however remember to visit the original Bar as it was the first one and is the most iconic.
From 2015 onwards, 20th of October is celebrated as the Day of the pasztecik szczeciński.
